The six different themes to be researched were: Black Magic, Summer Nights, Babydoll, Parisienne Chic, Colour Mission and Eastern Promise. For Black Magic I researched a dark, gothic look and somewhat scary and creepy. Summer Nights, I pictured a hippy, festival look. For example, wavy hair, headbands across forehead and the make-up I imagined was quite a sun kissed look with glitter and sequins. Babydoll was my least favourite because it was a chinadoll looking make-up, similar to sixties make-up which we have already practiced a lot of in class and I wanted to experiment with different looks and give myself a challenge. I loved researching Parisienne Chic as I enjoy looking at editorial pictures of elegant, high fashion looks in magazines such as Vogue and my vision of Parisienne Chic was exactly this. Colour Mission was very easy to research as there were many pictures of loud, colourful make-up on websites such as MAC and Barry M. Eastern Promise was a very Asian, tidy make-up focusing on sharp eyeliner, defined brows and overall well-blended make-up.
In the end, I choose Parisienne Chic because for me, this was the one which I thought would give me a challenge. For example, with Colour Mission, although the prospect of something loud and daring was exciting, I felt anything would go aslong as there was colour involved. Parisienne Chic was the one that I most enjoyed researching and I had an advantage because I had a copy of a French Vogue, which supplied me with a great deal of inspiration, ideas and research pictures. The model I had chosen was perfect for the elegant, chic look I was planning to portray. The make-up I went for had subtle, natural tones with contouring, until I added Strong defined brows, sharp eye and lipliner, lashes and bold red lipstick. The hair was back and in a large bun. I used a hair donut to enhance the largeness of the bun and define the shape. The outfit was a navy and white striped top with high-waisted wet look leggings and nude heels. I practiced the hair and make-up, changing small details as I went along. For example, would the hair look better in a side bun? Or in the middle? I wanted my look to be a bit cliché of a Paris girl with the red lips, hair in a bun and navy and white stripes on. The reason for that was because I wanted everyone to look at my model and know straight away what look I had chosen, and I think I done a good job of this.
